One more note on the English words in Chinese language messages. Code-switching (and code-mixing) are common around the world, mostly because a majority of the world's population is multilingual.

In particular the ability to accomplish intra-sentential code-switching in conversation of the type you noted is tied to cultural identity and in some venues is actually a status symbol. In particular in Hong Kong, young people identify as cool and hip based on their ability to switch in this way, rather than switching between Chinese and English at a larger discourse scale, as their elders do.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code-switching_in_Hong_Kong and http://sitemaker.umich.edu/psy457_ksmal/home

Cheers, Peter

Very interesting post Michael, how blinded we human are in the face of quantifying things (if its summarized into a number it must be easier to control/understand...).

I really regrett in hindsight not taking more advantage of the testlab and just runnning between presentations Eurostar.

But it was interresting when you mentioned that we didnt see a single ISEB/ISBQT representative in the testlab.

I am one of the OpenEMR developers and this is very cool; the fact that I noted this off our google analytics is even cooler.

Regarding the input bug (also includes your slash bug) issues check out this page HERE.

The chinese bug that is simply because we need more translators for our translation spreadsheet HERE.

Also, the OpenEMR bug tracking system is HERE.

The combination of open source, transparency, and google is just to cool. And it's all free.

@Skeeve...

Thanks for your comments.

There was a bug tracking system; for more information, you'd need to contact James Lyndsay at Workroom Productions.

I'm sorry about the selection problem; I had no idea that such a thing had been installed into my template. I was shocked by it. It's gone now. Thank you for the report. I appreciate attribution when people are copying and pasting, but that's going a little far.

---Michael B.

Good post. If only more manager types people would read it :)

And i don't want to think that you were the only one to see those bugs.
So is there a open list of every particiapnt and their reported errors ? ( Like a error tracking system ? )

Anyway i dislike your blog sending something to a third party server each time i "select text" with a mouse. Not copy, just selecting it.

Relevant log from console No-script console:" [NoScript XSS] Sanitized suspicious upload to [http://w1.tcr52.tynt.com/traces/§DATA§%2FHTML%2FBODY%2FDIV%5B%40id%3D%27mainClm%27%5D%2FDIV%2Ftext%28%29%5B10%5D] from [http://www.developsense.com/blog.shtml]: transformed into a download-only GET request."
